Rules of Games
Amesbury Girls Youth Softball League
All games are six innings in length.
A game may be shortened by darkness or inclement weather
A game is official after four (4) full innings. If the home team is leading after 3 1/2
innings, the game is official.
Games Tied:
League games that are tied after six (6) complete innings will end in a tie. No extra
innings will be allowed to determine a winner.
Pitchers:
Players may pitch a maximum of three (3) innings per game. Once a pitcher is removed
from the game, she may not pitch again later in that game.
Batting:
The AGYSL allows for continuous batting rotation for the entire team present at the
game.
The batting order will not change during a game.
Players:
All players will play at least four (4) innings per game. Every effort should be made to
increase playing time for all players so that everyone will get equal playing time. Players
may be taken out of the game and re-enter with no penalty to the team. (Exception to
this rule is as stated above for pitchers)
Make-Up Games:
Any game that is postponed for any reason will be made up at the next open date on the
schedule. This will be scheduled by the Umpiring Chief and both teams will be
contacted at the earliest possible time.
