Draft Rules
Amesbury Girls Youth Softball League
Players already assigned to a team will remain with that team throughout
their involvement within each division.  New players entering the league, or
moving from the lower division to the upper division, will enter the draft.  The
draft rules are as follows:
Managers will select players for their respective teams after tryouts have been held.

Players not attending the tryouts cannot be drafted until ALL players that attended the
tryouts have been drafted.

Automatic appointments are made under the following circumstances:

a. Manager's daughter(s) is either entering the league as a new player or moving from
the lower to the upper division.
b. Sisters will always be placed on the same team if playing in the same division.

Players cannot transfer from one team to another.  Once selected by a team, the player
will remain with that team until no longer eligible to play within that division.  Exceptions
may be made for extenuating circumstances if approved by the Board of Directors.

Lower Division Draft - The team with the fewest returning players will draft first.  The draft
will continue in order through the team with the highest number of returning players.
Ties will be decided by coin toss.

Upper Division Draft - Order of draft will be based on reverse order of the League
standings from prior season.  Ties will be decided as follows until the tie is broken:

a. Head to Head competition record from prior season
b. run rule, or
c. coin toss

New Teams - If the league expands and new teams are needed in either division, the
Board will set a format for draft selection which may differ the existing rules.
