Game Protest Rules
Amesbury Girls Youth Softball League
- Protests will be considered only if it is in regards to a rule interpretation, not a
judgment call. It must be on an interpretation of an ASA or AGYSL rule.
- Managers or acting managers will be allowed to file a protest with the
Umpiring Chief.
- The intent of the protest must be made immediately before the next pitch,
following the play in question or before both teams leave the playing field.
- The manager will notify the home plate umpire that the game is being played
under protest and also notify the other team.
- Score books must be marked at the time of the protest as to note base
runners, batter and fielders.
- A written protest will be filed within forty-eight (48) hours so as to give the
Umpiring Chief the facts regarding the protest.
- The Umpiring Chief will render a decision and notify both manager of the
decision within a reasonable period of time.
- Managers must accept the decision of the Umpiring Chief and no further
protest action is allowed.
